When you were growing up, did you enjoy wading in the creek catching critters? Do you know what a hellbender is? Would you like to hold one? Then this is an experience for you.

Spend a day assisting fisheries professionals as they work to capture, process, and then return hellbenders to streams of the Allegheny National Forest.

Each participant is responsible for providing their own transportation to and from the survey site near Kelletteville, Pennsylvania. Carpooling from the rendezvous point in the Lowe’s parking lot is encouraged.

Please dress for the weather and wear proper wading shoes with hard soles and ankle support. The intent is to get out on a hot, sunny, summer day and therefore hip and chest waders will be too warm. Come prepared wearing clothes that can get wet and muddy. We will be in knee-deep to waist-deep water all day.

Water, lunch, and snacks are provided along with lots of laughs and some great memories.

NOTE: 2017 Auction winners are already signed up. There was room for a few more folks, so this listing invites additional people at the same price paid at the Auction.

Nate Welker is a fisheries biologist with the Allegheny National Forest.

Special Information:  Dress for the weather and wear sturdy wading shoes with hard soles and ankle support and clothes that you are willing to wear in the water. You will get wet.
