Tomatoes, potatoes, squash and berries.
Let the onslaught begin! Lock your car doors or you’re taking some zucchini home! Now is the time for the payoff for all that time and energy you invested in your garden, as almost everything becomes harvest--ready at the same time. But to keep the veggies coming in, you also need to continue your upkeep – tying up tomatoes, snapping suckers, monitoring mildews and blights, and squishing squash bugs. Things you may get to sample today include Ma Guan (AKA fuzzy gourd, AKA wax gourd), Black from Tula tomato, kohlrabi, and multi-colored carrots.
This is the fourth in a series of five hands-on gardening classes offered by organic gardeners Scott and Pam Stoleson. This hands-on, taste-buds-on workshop will take place at the Stoleson’s home in Sugar Grove, Pennsylvania. Driving directions will be emailed to registrants on the Thursday before the workshop.
Only one more workshop after this one: October 1 – Fall Harvests and Putting Your Garden to Bed.
Scott and Pam Stoleson have been raising some of their own food for over 15 years using organic gardening techniques. They estimate that they produce 85% of the vegetables, 50% of the fruit, and 10% of the nuts that they consume.
