At Little Explorers, children ages 3 - 8 and their adults can take a closer look at the world underfoot and explore the soil, rocks, and other things that make up the ground you walk on.
It’s easy to focus on the things that are moving, growing, and changing in nature each spring, but what is going on in the ground underneath you? What is soil made of, anyway? And what else can you find buried in the dirt and mud? Join Audubon to learn more about how soil is made, explore some different types of rocks, and maybe find some living things hiding in the dirt.
After an indoor lesson, be prepared to get a little dirty as you head outside for a short hike to get the scoop on soil, dig deep into mud, and see why rocks… well, rock!
A snack is provided after the hike and a craft is offered if there is time.
Special Information: This program takes place rain or shine, please dress for the weather.
Get a close-up view of the world underneath your feet, and spend some time with the soil, rocks, and mud outside. Learn more about soil, rocks, and the what’s going on underground at ACNC’s Little Explorers on May 9.
