Ponds are teeming with life from top to bottom. Join Audubon to learn about the plants and turtles on the shore, the fish and tadpoles swimming through the water, the insects in the mud below, and many more!
For many plants and animals, ponds can either be the perfect home or just one important stop in their life cycle. After a short lesson exploring some of the organisms that live and feed in ponds, head outside to explore the ponds at Audubon. Look for evidence of larger animals, and learn how to use a net to collect and look closely at macroinvertebrates or maybe even a tadpole.
A snack is provided after the hike and a craft is offered if there is time.
Special Information: This program takes place rain or shine, please dress for the weather.
Using tools, such as nets and containers, gives a closer look at what is living below the surface of a pond. Learn more about the plants and animals found in ponds at ACNC’s Little Explorers on July 12.
