Western New York has been dealing with non-native, invasive plants and animals from all over the world due to an ever increasing connectiveness within the county and among the global community. Invasive species cause significant harm to our ecosystems, economy and to human health. They disrupt the delicate balance within our local habitats and lead to increasingly harmful impacts felt far beyond our backyards. Western New York PRISM (Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management), an organization set up to provide the framework and leadership for a coordinated partnership network, works with partners and the community to address invasive species through education, prevention and management. Learn more about the work of WNY PRISM with Andrea Locke, Invasive Species Superheroine, as she talks about the dirty dozen – the top twelve invasives to be on the lookout for in Western New York.
