Learn how to shape your apple trees to improve tree health, facilitate harvesting, or aesthetically match your landscape.

Pruning can take on a life of its own, or be a simple process. In this class you will learn the basics of pruning, a how to not harm the tree, and a little about proper pruning tools. You’ll also learn different methods of shaping your trees, from open vase to central leader, even touching on espalier pruning. The class will cover pruning both young trees for ideal growth and shape and recovering old trees to get them back into good condition. In preparation for next month, this is the time during which you collect scion wood if you plan on grafting, covered in April’s class.

Special Information: This class will have an outdoor component.
