Join Audubon to explore the ways both predators and prey use camouflage as an important survival tool, whether they are matching the colors and patterns of their surroundings or mimicking other plants or animals. The fur, feathers, and shells of many animals are able to blend into the backdrop of the forests and fields, while other animals take it a step further and mimic the leaves or branches around them. After a short hands-on lesson indoors exploring how animals use different types of camouflage, head outside to look for signs of those animals and test your own camouflage skills in the forests and fields. A snack is provided after the hike and a craft is offered if there is time. Special Information: This program takes place rain or shine, please dress for the weather Some animals, like Katydids, camouflage by mimicking leaves or other plant parts. Learn more about the types of animal camouflage at ACNC’s Little Explorers on March 14.
