Join Eileen and Jim Goodling as they share their 16-day walk across three national parks in the north of England.
On their most recent oversees adventure, Eileen and Jim traversed approximately 200 miles of English trails from the Irish Sea to the North Sea. Their feet carried them through the Lake District, across the Dales, and through the Moors. Eileen and Jim will share photos of their journey and stories of the scenery, people, and nature they encountered on their adventure.
Eileen grew up in nearby Sheffield, Pennsylvania and Jim, also a Pennsylvania native, is from the Carlisle area. Both have retired in recent years. Eileen retired from Jamestown Community College and Northern Pennsylvania Regional College and Jim from the Warren County United Fund and as a planning director in both Warren and Corning, NY. Jim is an avid walker and has walked the French Route of the Camino de Santiago, a 500-mile trek in Northern Spain, on two occasions. He has also hiked all of the North Country Trail within the Allegheny National Forest (90 miles). The Coast to Coast walk was Eileen's first multi-day hike. Both Jim and Eileen are happiest when out in nature. They fondly remember their first date, hiking together at the Audubon Community Nature Center approximately 41 years ago.
