Make, take, and enjoy at the Snowflake Local Living Festival. Children and adults can participate in hands-on demonstrations, take some of their creations home, and learn about how to live a little closer to their community. You can also visit with live animals, including hawks and owls.

So many resources are spent on the things we need in our daily lives. This festival focuses on reducing the resources needed and teaches you some great ways to do some things yourself, make your own, or find a local supplier. Some past activities include grinding corn for cornmeal, making butter, creating walking sticks, weaving, and stamping leather bracelets. Audubon also loves to encourage you to get out and enjoy winter with snowshoe trials, sled dogs pulling sleds, and winter hikes with a naturalist.

Food is available from 3 C’s food truck and there are a number of other activities like making a nest box for wildlife or taking a wagon ride available for an a nominal fee. Taste test maple syrup, learn how to cook over a fire, or spend time with the live animals. You could stay for hours and many visitors do. Check ACNC’s website for updated information on vendors and activities.
